Let age of the man and his wife be $x$ and $(52-x)$ respectively.

$x+7= 2(52-x+7)\\\Rightarrow x+7=118-2x\\\Rightarrow 3x=111\\\Rightarrow x=37$

Present age of the man $=37$
Present age of his wife $=52-37=15$

Solution 2

Sum of their ages after $7$ years $=52+7+7=66.$ At this time their ages are in the ratio $2:1$ and hence man's age is $66×\dfrac{2}{3}=44$ and wife's age is $66×\dfrac{1}{3}=22$

Present age of the man $=44-7=37$
Present age of his wife $=22-7=15$
